Who wants to make a change? Whose willing to work for that change? Well, if you do. Bare with me through this douchey motivation post.
Give it a month challenge
The problem with people wanting to change is that they not only lack motivation but they lack the Dedication. My advice is to just give it a month. No bullshit, dedicate your month to trying to make a positive change in your life. Not only that, but challenge yourself. Try out a strict diet for a month. Try hitting the gym consistently for a month. Try not spending your money on useless things for a month. Try investing your time into something healthy for a month. See if you don’t see a positive change.
I’m going to take this journey with yall. We can hold each other accountable and lift each other up. The thing with challenging yourself is that its easy to just give up. Especially if you’re doing it by yourself. But to have someone going through the same thing you are, that’s what will keep you committed. It’s only a month.
I’m not talking about a hard core, starve yourself and eat 6 salads a day diet. I’m talking about cutting out all the unnecessary snacks, sweets, drinks, and all that calorie dense shit out. Stop going out to eat and start shopping for healthy alternatives. Now I know temptations get the best of all of us, especially me. Here are some healthy alternatives off the top of my head.
Rice cake chips or original bummy ass patties-These go so hard. Let me tell ya. I for one love eating chips. Every night at work I’m munching on a bag of Cheezits. I usually don’t keep snacks in my house because I’m the type of fat that if I see food, I’ma eat that shit. But whenever I do get the urge to say fuck it and grab a bag of chips these bad boys come in handy. They come in different flavors, you can make them taste better by adding peanut butter and bananas on em. But my favorites are the rice cake chips, cheddar to be exact.
Brown rice, uncle bens, Oatmeal- I fucking hate cooking rice. It takes forever, they’re usually under cooked because I get impatient. But with uncle bens they come in pre-made packets that all you have to do is pop them in the microwave for 1:30. (Shout out Whames for showing me these) The same thing goes for oatmeal, I eat 2 packets of Quakers oatmeal right after I get home from the gym. I like these so much because,
1. Oatmeal is good af for you.
2. They taste good af.
3. They’re so fast to cook. Literally toss the oatmeal into a bowl with some water and throw it in the microwave for 3 mins. I add a tablespoon of peanut butter with each bowl just because it makes it taste better.
Peanut butter is so slept on. Not going to get into all the health benefits right now. Just know it’s one of those healthy fats that promotes weight loss if used properly.
Frozen Vegetables-I just recently got back on this vegetable grind. I prefer to just buy a big ass bag of mixed vegetables or just broccoli by itself. These are so easy to make. You can empty a cup full into a bowl and add water then toss it in the microwave it. Or you can empty it into a steamer basket type deal, boil hot water underneath and your done.
Chicken, beef, and pork- These are high key the plug. Like I said before I don’t keep snacks at my place. You can go into my fridge right now and find either a pack of chicken, a pack of beef, or a pack of pork chops. When people think of dieting they immediately think of eating bland ass food. Which is definitely not the case. Have some fun when your cooking. Spice up your food, just don’t go overboard with the spices. And white people, stop boiling yalls chicken. (I’ve seen this done before twice already) Yall gettin too crazy.
Zero Calorie Drinks- This is a tough one for most people. I mean who wants to go to starbucks and order a plain ass black coffee. Your pretty much drinking Satans bath water. But black coffee is a diuretic and promotes fat loss by stimulating the nervous system to use your fat as energy. There are also other zero calorie drinks out there like diet green tea which honestly taste just as good as regular tea. Zero calorie energy drinks. Monster hydrate. And such and such.
Hit the gym
If you’re a consistent reader then you know that I workout regularly. Mainly because I don’t really have a life outside of work. I understand people have a family to keep them busy outside of work. Or they have they have to do outside of the workplace to consume their time. People are busy is what I’m saying. They don’t really have 2 hours everyday to go spend at the gym.
I’m not telling you to go to the gym and fuckin kill yourself with cardio and weight lifting. I’m saying to hit the gym 3+ times a week and get work done. Challenge yourself. That’s the point of this challenge, get out there and push yourself to the limits. Your body is a temple and you need to keep it in tip top shape if that makes sense. We only get one body in this life, unless your part of the illuminati then you get a new body on your 60th birthday. WE ONLY GET ONE BODY so we should be doing our best to take care of it right? So don’t waste your time at the gym. Turn your phone on do not disturb and start grinding. 45 mins is all you need. Go that extra speed on the treadmill, run that extra quarter mile, go up 10lbs on bench. Just fuckin challenge yourself man. You will feel amazing afterwards. Well,,, not directly afterwards, but at the end of the month you will. I promise you.
Invest your time and save your money
This is probably the worst category for me cause I still have no clue what career path I’m on. The only thing I’m working on right now is saving money to move to San Diego and have my voice heard through my blog. I also want to start Vlogging and doing a podcast. So probably the first step for me is getting my finances under control to start saving for these big projects I have in mind. My plan is to buy a camera at the end of the month. Then at the end of next month I’m gonna buy a desktop to edit all my blogs and vlogs on at home. Then the following month I’m sure I’ll find something else to spend my money on like a mic or something. I chose to make these purchases at the end of the week because my first paycheck in the middle of the month goes strictly to bills and rent. The one I get at the end of the month is what I have left over. But a little over half is stowed away for the move.
This part of the challenge is mainly about not spending your money at the bars every week. Or shopping for clothes that you honestly don’t need. Instead invest that money that you usually spend on things that aren’t needed and invest it into your future.
It’s not all going to be tough
I’m going to allow one day this month that all bets are off. You can eat whatever you want, drink what you want, spend your money on what you want. Consider it as a break. In a relationship this would be called a Hall Pass. I strongly advise giving yourself a day off through this treacherous month so you don’t go insane. If your going to cheat on your diet don’t let it turn into a cheat day. Cause that will lead to you binge eating all day and nobody wins with that. Better yet, call it a cheat window. 4 hours in which you can go out to eat, have a few drinks, and treat yourself to dessert. That’s fair right?
For those of you who want to try the #1monthchallenge send me a quick video of the workout, diet, or personal investment your doing. I’ll toss it on the story and hopefully it’ll inspire others to join.
The point of this challenge is for people to challenge themselves to make a positive change in their life. Whether it be with fitness, diet, or their career. Just say fuck it and try it out, it’s only a month. You can go back to being a turd after it’s over. Who knows, it might just change your life.
That’s it for this post y’all, Stay woke.
